Abstract

Die umweltpolitische Debatte leidet unter einem verbreiteten Diskursversagen. Zugrunde liegt eine Moralkonfusion. Sie verstellt der demokratischen Öffentlichkeit den Blick auf die ordnungspolitische Option, das moralische Anliegen einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung - inklusive Klimaschutz - durch die kluge Indienstnahme marktwirtschaftlicher Prinzipien zu verwirklichen. Ohne Produktionseffizienz und Innovationsdynamik - und insbesondere ohne intensives Wachstum - wird es keine ökologisch nachhaltige Entwicklung geben (können).

Debates on environmental policy suffer from widespread discourse failures. The underlying reason is a moral confusion, which blurs the public awareness that the moral desideratum of sustainable development - including adequate climate protection - can be realized by prudently taking into service the principles of a market economy. Without productive efficiency and innovative dynamism - and notably without intensive growth - it will be impossible to find and implement ecologically sustainable solutions.
