Abstract

The collection and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is regulated in the Federal Republic of Germany by the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) in conjunction with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment Ordinance (EAG-BehandV), which transposes the European Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE Directive) into German law. The aim of this guideline is to provide its addressees (here: certifying experts according to § 21 Section 2 ElektroG) with a practical assistance, which shows the relevant checkpoints during the certification process with regard to data collection, documentation and reporting obligations of primary treatment facilities for waste electrical and waste electronic equipment and explains the aspects to be checked in more detail. The guide is based on the 9 steps of data management as listed in the complementary "Guideline for primary treatment facilities on the fulfilment of reporting obligations" and the checkpoints to be considered during certification.
