Inhaltliche Zusammenfassung

Children, adolescents, and people aged 60 and over walk more frequently than other age groups. They also make greater use of bicycles and public transport. In doing so, the youngest and the oldest generations demonstrate environmentally friendly mobility behavior. At the same time, however—as pedestrians and cyclists—they are more frequently involved in traffic accidents. The objective must be to provide them with better protection through streetscape design that is tailored to their specific needs. This brochure illustrates how street spaces can be adapted to the capabilities and requirements of children and older people, ensuring that all age groups benefit. It offers inspiration through examples of best practice drawn from municipalities across Germany.
