Abstract

In der vorliegenden ökobilanziellen Studie wurden prospektiv mit Zeithorizont 2030/2045 die Perspektiven unterschiedlicher Getränkeverpackungssysteme bei absehbaren Veränderungen der Rahmenbedingungen sowie bei Ausschöpfen möglicher antizipierter Optimierungspotenziale der Verpackungssysteme ermitteln. Es wurden 28 verschiedene Getränkeverpackungen untersucht, die sich den Systemen (Verpackungsgruppen) Glas-Mehrweg, PET-Mehrweg, PET-Einweg, Getränkedosen aus Aluminium und Getränkeverbundkartons zuordnen lassen. Im Kern der Untersuchung stand dabei die Frage wie sich die Umweltwirkungen verschiedener Getränkeverpackungssysteme zukünftig unter Veränderungen der Rahmenbedingungen (Externe Potenziale: Welche Optimierungen ergeben sich durch das Umfeld? - Änderung im Mix an Energieträgern, Umstellung im Feedstock) und bei Ausschöpfen möglicher Optimierungspotenziale der Verpackungssysteme (Interne Potenziale: Wohin entwickeln sich die verpackungssystemspezifischen Parameter? - Gewichte, Umlaufzahlen, Materialzusammensetzung, Entsorgungswege, Distribution, Prozessdaten) darstellen.

In this life cycle assessment study, the potential perspectives of various beverage packaging systems were prospectively analysed with a time horizon of 2030/2045 considering likely changes in the contextual conditions and the realisation of possible anticipated optimization potentials of the packaging systems. Twenty-eight different beverage packaging types were analysed within the packaging groups of reusable glass bottles, reusable PET bottles, single use PET Bottles, aluminium beverage cans and bonded drinks cartons. At the core of the study was the question of how the environmental impacts of various beverage packaging systems will develop in the future under changes in the contextual conditions (External potentials: Which optimizations result from the context such as a change in the energy-mix and in the feedstock?) and if optimization potentials of the packaging systems are realized (Internal potentials: Where are the packaging system-specific parameters such as weight, material composition, use cycles of reusable packaging systems, disposal routes, distribution, and process data heading?).
