Dieses Interview lässt die in Deutschland heftig geführte Diskussion pro und contra Agrarspekulation in Form eines persönlichen Erlebnisberichts Revue passieren. Ge-schildert werden einige öffentliche Interventionen, mit denen Wissenschaftler nach-drücklich in Erinnerung gerufen haben, dass sie es sind – und nicht etwa einige Lobby-gruppen –, denen die Deutungshoheit über den Erkenntnisstand der Forschung zu-kommt.

This interview reports personal reflections on the pros and cons of financial speculation with agricultural commodities, a topic hotly debated in Germany. It explains some in-terventions by which members of academia have publicly pointed out that it is they - and not some lobby groups - who deserve the interpretational sovereignty over the state of the art of academic research and its empirical findings.
